We interpreted the year of the Pig as a symbolizing generosity and material property.  We were inspired by the Chinese custom of giving a gold medal in the shape of a pig as a gift for newborns or the newly married as a token of prosperity. Children born in the Year of the Pig are regarded as lucky. The Pig is amiable and good natured so we have made a connection to the amusing image of the flying pig relating to the expression 'pigs might fly' often used in Australian larrikin humor.
